Welcome to our very first blog! We are honored to have this space to share with you our thoughts and opinions about experiential education and building a community to support teachers and facilitators in their critical work to promote social emotional learning.
We are a social enterprise with a vision for a more peaceful, compassionate world. We believe quality education holds the potential to change the world for the better and we believe experiential education is the key to cultivating a community prepared for the future.
Learning by doing. It's the core of who we are at Kikori. The future is new, fresh, and it doesn't come with instructions. We have to make those up as we go. That's what the kids of today and tomorrow will need to do and we believe giving them lots of practice in learning by doing and raising their emotional intelligence along with their academic knowledge is our responsibility. We don't have all the answers, and that's okay. In fact, it's kind of the point. Engaging authentically with challenges and staying curious about new possibilities is the attitude we hope to inspire in students and what better way to teach than to model that behavior ourselves?
It's an extra special coincidence that today is #GivingTuesday. We are supporting a fundraising campaign for our partner organization, Play for Peace on Facebook.
What are we building together? Kikori and Play for Peace are teaming up to bring experiential and social emotional activities and training to young change agents around the world through an accessible, scalable app.
