Journey to the Caring Classroom Full Day Playshop
Drawing from research on community building, trauma-informed practices, experiential learning and Social Emotional Learning, participants will actively engage in interactive activities to understand the foundational elements of community and learn practical strategies for implementation in their classrooms. The workshop will conclude with reflection, reinforcing the experiential learning cycle and empowering educators with tangible tools for immediate application.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the foundational elements of community building, trauma-informed practices, SEL, and the stages of group development.
Educators will acquire a toolkit of practical strategies, activities, and tools that they can immediately implement in their classrooms to foster a sense of community, promote SEL skills, and navigate group development stages effectively.
Through experiential learning activities and collaborative discussions, participants will deepen their pedagogical skills and enhance their ability to effectively engage and support students in their socio-emotional development and meet their students where they are at in their group development.
The value of the Full Day Playshop is that educators will have time to practice facilitating activities and receive best practice facilitation tips to support them in successfully leading experiential SEL activities with their students.
Educators will leave the workshop feeling empowered and confident in their ability to cultivate inclusive, supportive, and SEL-focused learning communities within their classrooms.
Participant Engagement: Participants will engage in hands-on activities, reflective exercises, and collaborative discussions throughout the playshop. They will have the opportunity to connect with fellow educators, share insights, and grow their understanding of community building, trauma-informed practices, and SEL in education. By participating in experiential social-emotional learning activities, they will gain both knowledge and practical strategies to enhance their classroom practice.
Outcome: By the end of this 6-hour workshop, educators will be empowered with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools necessary to create thriving, inclusive, and socially-emotionally supportive learning communities within their classrooms.
